Braces & Aligners
What are Dental Braces?
Dental braces are an orthodontic treatment designed to straighten teeth. They are made up of wires, brackets, and bands. Braces (also known as teeth clips) address a variety of dental issues, including teeth alignment, jaw positioning, aesthetics, and facial symmetry. By applying gentle pressure over time, braces gradually move teeth into the correct position, enhancing chewing efficiency, speech clarity, and smile symmetry.
A specialist in braces is known as an "orthodontist." They evaluate your oral condition and recommend the most suitable treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Types of Braces
Metal Braces
These are the traditional and most widely used types of tooth braces, as recommended by dentists. The latest metal braces are smaller and more comfortable than their predecessors. They consist of steel bands, brackets, and wires, which apply consistent mild pressure to gradually move your teeth into the correct position.
An orthodontist attaches a bracket to each tooth and positions a thin, flexible archwire over them. Small elastic bands, known as ligatures, hold the wire securely in place. These metal braces are noticeable when you smile.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces feature clear brackets that use tooth-colored materials, allowing them to blend more naturally with your teeth. Their shape and size are similar to those of metal braces. Because they are less noticeable, ceramic braces are often favored by teenagers and adults who have aesthetic concerns.
Due to their less visible nature, ceramic braces require more care and protection compared to metal braces, which are larger and more durable. Additionally, they tend to be more expensive than traditional metal braces.
Self Ligating Braces
These metal brackets do not need elastic to secure the wire. Metal self-ligating braces are more compact and comfortable compared to traditional metal braces. They aid in arch expansion and reduce the necessity for tooth extraction.
Lingual Braces
These custom-made braces are positioned behind the teeth, making them invisible from the front. Lingual braces are tailored to fit the shape of the patient’s teeth and work by applying consistent pressure to move them into place. They are designed for comfort during use.
